chapter 3

“Is that really it? It’s over?” George was at ends “yes, yes it’s over” Sid replied as they walked through the city streets. ”stop right there!” they both turned and saw a cop standing there with a gun drawn at George. Without a second thought, Sid drew his gun and shot the cop dead. “Holy shi-“”shut up, I saved your life” he said dragging the body back into the dark alley, far enough to be hidden.
“like I said before, no big deal” he said after a while, George was silent for a long time after that, all the way to the burger king, he finally spoke again when they reached the front of the line. ”uh, number three please””number five for me, and a large root beer” Sid added “alright comin’ right up” they sat down and waited “I never did thank you, man, it means a lot””don’t mention it, no seriously, don’t. murder isn’t something you brag about””that’s true””what did jack do anyway?””he killed my dad, got away with it too””god damn it what do the cops do all day?!”jack said then continued” listen, after we eat we should probably go our separate ways, you really have no place in my life”. “Ok” George said after a long pause “number three and a number seven” the cashier announced “well, that’s us, let’s eat up. It’s been a while since I’ve eaten””why’s that?””I’m just so busy I usually forget” it was true too; Sid looked as if he was simply skin stretched over bone, with long spindly fingers. He ate greedily away at the greasy burger in front of him, while George followed in suit.
Abruptly, Sid got up and went out the door. He left as effortlessly as he entered, he wasn’t sure where he was going, but he was glad he was alone again. As he walked he thought of all the people who needed human interaction, he wondered what their problem was. Why they were compelled to surround themselves with all the sheep they could. Now sure he had his acquaintances, but none he’d truly call friends. He had connections where it mattered, a guy for drugs, a guy for money, and a guy for getting rid of problems. He didn’t have many problems.
