chapter 23

He was standing in the elevator, briefcase in hand, he was almost giddy. A small smile was perched upon his face as he patiently waited for the doors to open. The elevator made a small ding at the top floor; he casually strolled out with briefcase in hand. The white, sterile walls seemed warm and inviting instead of the usual alienation he usually felt walking down the hallowed halls. The conference room was on the left, he opened the door to see a room full of people seated around a long table.
He shut the door behind him, discreetly locking them behind him. “Good evening gentlemen, where should I start?” He said brightly, he opened his briefcase looking inside, there were various knives, guns, hand grenades, anthrax laced letters, you know, the usual “Whenever you’re ready” the president said. “I’ve lived in this city, all my life, these are my people” He started, pacing the room back and forth “I know what they think, what they want, what makes them tick” “where are you going with this?” the president demanded impatiently “just work with me. You’re trying to market to them right? Get up and look at these people, come on” he signaled them to join him as he gazed out the window.
Like sheep they slowly got up and looked out the window, “you see them mister president?” “why yes I do, sid””That hobo, the old lady, the friendly neighborhood mugger, not to mention that platoon of snipers on the opposing building” he said, banging on the window on the last word. “I’m sorry, what was that la-“ several shots rang throughout the room. The sound of broken glass, of several bodies hitting the floor; the sounds of the outside filled the now windowless room. Sid took out his phone and dialed “nice job taco, knew you could do it” he put the phone away and put on his best surprised face, he ran out of the room quickly. “THERE HAS BEEN A SHOOTING SOMEONE HELP!” he yelled urgently alerting near everyone on the floor.
